Cake Design Class: From Inspiration to Execution
In this hands-on class, you will learn how to take your cake designs from inspiration to execution, step by step. Each student will be given a unique inspiration to work with, ensuring that no two cakes are the same. This approach not only allows you to create a personalized design but also gives you the opportunity to explore and learn from the diverse techniques and ideas of your fellow students.
Throughout the course, Sona will guide you through the entire creative process, teaching you how to source inspiration from different sources and step outside of your comfort zone to create unique, fresh designs. You’ll learn how to identify inspiration in unexpected places and use it to fuel your creativity, then sketch your ideas and execute them using a variety of mediums. You will learn how to conduct effective business consultations, better understand your clients’ vision, and discover how to combine their ideas with your own unique style and creative vision. You’ll also gain valuable insights into finding your personal design style and voice, empowering you to create cakes that truly reflect your artistic identity while meeting your clients’ needs
Making Strong Structure

You will learn how to create a sturdy structure for your wedding cakes
Stacking and Ganaching:

Learn to layer and ganache real cake - Square, Round, hexagon, Oval the shape of the cake will depend on the cake you have chosen.
Mediums:

Mixed Media Techniques: Explore a blend of textures using various mediums, such as fondant, modelling chocolate, tempered textured chocolate, create your molds... depending on the design of your cake. You will be guided to create the texture that best complements your cake, ensuring a cohesive and stunning final piece.

Cake Molds: Recognize and use different cake molds effectively. Learn how to incorporate molds into your design to create uniform, consistent shapes and textures. You’ll also gain the ability to use these molds to create balanced compositions and add visual interest to your cakes.
Texture and Composition:

Master the art of creating various textures, from smooth fondant surfaces to rough, rustic finishes. Learn how to balance different textures in your designs to achieve harmony and a visually striking composition. Whether it’s smooth chocolate against a textured fondant or delicate sugar flowers juxtaposed with bold lines, you’ll understand how to create a balanced, cohesive cake design.
Tools and colors:

You will be introduced to a variety of molds, impression mats, and tools to help you create various textures. Additionally, you’ll learn how to work with colors to enhance and bring your creations to life
Finding Inspiration:

Discover how to transform your creative ideas into stunning edible structures, bringing your vision to life in the form of unique and artistic cakes
Sugarflowers:

You will learn to make your paste to create sugar flower and assemble on the cake safely and securely
You’ll also learn how to work with clients, guiding them through the design process to understand their vision and ensure it’s translated into a custom cake that exceeds their expectations.
By the end of the class, you’ll have developed a broad range of skills in cake design, gained hands-on experience with various mediums, and created a portfolio of your unique cake creations. You will leave with a deeper understanding of how to source and embrace inspiration, how to create stunning, balanced compositions, how to build cake structures, and how to use different techniques and textures to elevate your designs.
